Synopsis

Kadence Victor hasn’t had much experience in the love department, but what she has had reaffirms her decisions to keep her distance. She’s completely content with living closed off to love until her friends intervene in an unconventional way.

A lost bet fates her in having a chance encounter with Barry “Bear” Williams, an old family friend and crush from her youth.

“It’s just for one night. Afterwards, you two can move forward like nothing ever happened.”

Listening to her best friend, Kadence agrees. For one night, Kadence lets her guard down to experience a night of bliss she never knew existed.

But what happens when one night turns into two and two nights into three and love starts valiantly knocking at her door?

Will she answer?

Will she open her mind, her heart, and her body to the good love could bring?

Or will she let her past heartaches continue to dictate her future?

Sneak peek

Kadence

“Bear, this was supposed to be for one night.”

“Who said that it had to be?”

“We do, I do.”

“And why is that, Kadee?”

Because I’m feeling things I shouldn’t for a man that I can’t be with, won’t be with.

“If you don’t love you don’t lose.”

“If you don’t love, you don’t live. You have to stop running one day, Kadence.”

“And what do you think I’m running from, Barry?” Since he wanted to use governments I would too. I took a bite of my gumbo waiting for him to tell me that he thought I was running from him.

It was typical of men to think that they were the root of every woman’s pain and happiness. That couldn’t be the furthest thing from the truth.

“Love.”

Now that, that was the truth and I wasn’t expecting him to know it. So, much so my gumbo went down the wrong way.

Barry stood to help me, but I lifted my hand to stop him from getting up.

After clearing my throat a few times I was good. The heat was evident in his gaze as a blush spread across my cheeks. A reaction I was becoming more accustomed to having in his presence.

Subconsciously I tugged at the neckline of my sweater. “Is it hot in here to you?”

Barry smirked. He knew what I was doing, but like the gentleman that he was, he didn’t call me on it. “Pretty Girl, you’re eating gumbo and wearing a sweater like it’s December. It’s only October, baby.”

If my heart didn’t flutter at him calling me baby then a bigot wasn’t president. That ‘baby’ took me back to the night we first shared our bodies with each other.

If it wasn’t hot before it was definitely hot now.

Looking Bear over once more I made up my mind.

What was one more night?

We hope you’re ready for this sweet love story! The full version will be available for download tomorrow, 10/31!

Synopsis

“Right now, you’re safe. Free to leave me at any time. I can’t tie you down like that, baby. Not when you deserve better than me.” -Karim Lawson

During her upbringing, Amiyah Mays swooned over her parent’s devoted foundation. She admired their twenty years of unwavering love and prayed to the heavens that she would one day attain an incontestable love of her own.

Karim Lawson fit the card. He was dangerous in the best ways-endearing when it counted the most. After six years of bliss, the revelation that they may not have the same vision began to stump their growth. Feeling stagnant in their relationship, Amiyah issued Karim an ultimatum to securely commit or be free. A happily ever after is what she’s after, even if it’s acquired without him. Will Amiyah’s demand for more push Karim away? Or will he shun his fears for the woman he loves?

Sneak peek

Amiyah

Amiyah tossed and turned on her queen-sized, pillow-top mattress until she couldn’t bear to lay there any longer. For the past three weeks, late nights had lost its peaceful tranquility, stripping her of the protection and serenity she’d acquired when Karim was around. When they were together, he would hold her throughout the night, guarding her from any trouble that possibly lurked outside of their condo in the darkness. Now that they were a part, Amiyah was having the hardest time adjusting to the absence of his warm body next to her. Karim Lawson was always so warm. His strong, muscular arms were inviting. His presence alone made her feel safe.

And not only her. Karim’s authoritative aura could make anyone feel protected when he was around.

Dragging herself to the kitchen, she flipped the switch and sighed as the bright lights nearly blinded her. Everything agitated her nerves. Every small problem seemed heightened and bigger than it actually was —all because she missed him. Without him, the madness of the world drove her up the wall.

After retrieving a bottle of water from the fridge, she sat at the kitchen’s island exhausted and out of whack. Studies said it took twenty-one days to form a habit. Amiyah’s persistent tactics to move on without him was not working out the way she’d originally planned. In fact, Karim was the captivating habit needing to be broken.

How could she possibly form a habit that would distract her from craving him? He was too exhilarating to quit.

Sighing amid gradual sips of water, Amiyah peered around the kitchen and scoffed at the framed photos of them that decorated the walls. They looked so happy together and she thought they were. Karim’s reluctance begged to differ. After six years together, Amiyah was officially tired of waiting on him to want more out of their relationship.

As his woman, she’d done everything she could to please him. Amiyah performed her best tricks and took care of him emotionally and sexually all while holding him down altogether. She’d never missed an opportunity to uplift him when he was at his lowest.

When she wasn’t busy pushing paperwork and trying her damnedest to be the best secretary at Cohen’s Law Firm, her life revolved around Karim. He was the rousing man she loved—the uncontrollable bad boy she couldn’t get enough of. Karim did it for her. Amiyah couldn’t help but wonder if she did it for him too.

Fully aware that she couldn’t make a man ready for the serious, beautiful commitment she’d dreamed of since a little girl, she’d assumed waiting on him to get to that point would suffice. So, she’d waited until she realized it wouldn’t happen. Sadly, patience wasn’t doing her any justice. Things weren’t working out the way she’d planned.

Like clockwork, her cellphone rang from the master bedroom. Karim respected her request for a break, but he called her every night. Unable to quit him altogether, she never missed a call. They needed to know how each other were doing. When Karim’s deep tone blared through the phone, she felt relieved knowing that he was intact despite the troubles he may have been involved in during the day.

Closing her eyes to control the tears from falling, Amiyah sighed deeply and focused her thoughts on keeping her butt posted on the wooden stool around the island. Karim kept tabs on her. If he couldn’t physically see her, he wouldn’t stop calling for the clarity he needed. Answering him broke her down. The phone calls lasted half an hour with fifteen minutes of that time being dead air. They listened to each other breathe and felt at peace while doing it. Each time their phone call ended, the strength and composure she’d instilled within came crashing down. Living without the love of her life was hard.

Taking a deep breath when her iPhone ceased ringing from the bedroom, her eyes shot open at the sound of Karim clearing his throat. His self-made occupation caused for him to be light on his feet. He had to be precise with his moves and exceedingly careful throughout his day. She hadn’t heard him come in but now she could feel his intense eyes dancing over her flushed face.

“Karim,” she whispered. Now that he was in front of her, the night had just begun regardless of the time. Amiyah huffed, frustrated. Deep down, she was grateful to see him. Avoiding his handsome face for three weeks had weakened her. Seeing him again made the color return to a world that turned dull without him. “What are you doing here?”

“I live here, pretty girl.” Karim approached her. “And I’m ready to argue.”

“What?” She rolled her eyes and stood from the stool to back away from him. Being too close to Karim would fail her. Thus far, she’d been strong and firm about how she felt. She couldn’t give in now. Then it would have all been for nothing.

Holding back from blushing at the inside joke he’d mentioned, she looked at her feet and shook her head. Karim struggled to explain himself with words. His love was displayed in the way he kissed and caressed her body. Whenever he issued a joke that he was ready to argue, it meant he was throwing in the towel. He was ready to converse about the elephant in the room.

“Where else you gon go?” he asked when she backed herself into a wall. Amiyah trapped herself then fell victim to his enticing cologne.

“You promised,” she reminded him. He’d promised to respect her wishes—promised to obey the space she needed so he wouldn’t cloud her better judgment. “You said you would…”

“I tried!” he’d cut her off and raised his voice. Karim mumbled an apology when she jumped. His voice was too deep to shout without warning. He nearly turned the room upside down with his elevated interruption.

“Pretty girl. I fucking tried.” He groaned underneath his breath like he was in pain. And he was. He’d been holding out from seeing her for the sake of her wishes and his pride.

Karim couldn’t stand it anymore. He needed her.

“You’re breaking me down. Tell me what you need,” he spoke close to her ear. Karim’s bottom lip graced her lobe. Amiyah almost lost her mind.

In her head, she gave herself a pep talk to be strong enough to resist him. Her struggle was written all over her uncomfortable face. Amiyah struggled to push him back. Karim was overbearing as he towered over her. His chest was hard. Touching him gave her butterflies.

“I’m not going to keep explaining it to you, Karim. I can’t. Every time I do, it hurts. Don’t you understand?” Her parents were twenty years deep in a beautiful marriage. Even her sister that was twenty-five years young to Amiyah’s twenty-nine years on earth was already engaged to the man she loved. Marriage meant a lot to Amiyah. It glorified love.

“I do. Then I don’t,” he admitted. Amiyah looked at him stunned. He was right, he did come to argue. This was the first time he’d responded to a question about understanding what she ultimately wanted to come from their relationship. Karim was finally allowing her to pick his brain.

“I know I haven’t let you down that bad, pretty girl. You know I’m in love with you. In a dream, the Man above shows up every night to make sure I know you’re in love with me too. What’s the problem? What’s the pressure between us? I’ve given you plenty of rings.”

Amiyah went from swooning over his beautiful words to kissing her teeth. Folding her arms over her small chest, she ignored his gaze and shook her head, disappointed in his last comment.

“Because you’re stalling. You’ve given me plenty of rings to shut me up. How many times can you give me a ghetto ass proposal before you decide it’s time we make it official?”

“Damn. This arguing shit is tiring,” he quipped. Karim rubbed his hand over his face and huffed.

“Then get out!” She pushed him. It took all the strength she could muster but she successfully pushed him back. Amiyah didn’t stop pushing him with all her might until they were close to the front door. A few tiring minutes passed before she gave up.

As Amiyah stopped pushing him to catch her breath, she struck his shoulder with her fist. “If we don’t have the same vision…” she cried, failing to express her complete thought.

“You never asked me for my vision,” he muttered through clenched teeth. “Amiyah.” Karim sighed. Amiyah looked in his eyes when he said her name. Karim hardly called her by her first name. It didn’t fit her the way Pretty Girl did.

“Why have you never asked me for my vision?” Karim was close to her again and she was losing it. He leaned down to speak against her neck. Failing to find the right words, he kissed her collarbone instead. Kissing her gently would soothe her better than words. Karim’s soft touch settled her down. His lips against her warm skin mended her aching heart.

“Karim.” She moaned with his lips to her neck. Tears escaped her eyes. Missing him was torture. Amiyah didn’t realize how much she needed him until he’d broken his promise to give her space by returning to her.

“You missed me,” he stated rather than asking, and then chuckled in her ear. Karim hiked her lace nightgown to her waist and eased his hand into her wet panties.

When he was there, she didn’t wear any to bed. Karim would only rip them off of her if she did. He requested that she allowed her pussy the chance to breathe overnight. Truthfully, he wanted them nonexistent for easy access to taste her whenever he craved her in the middle of the night.

“Don’t do this to me.” Amiyah’s words told him one thing. Pulling him closer, she contradicted herself with a kiss to his lips. They began to move like it was their last night together. Karim’s hands roamed her slender body aggressively.

Cupping the biggest thing on her, he squeezed her ass and led them to the bed he missed sleeping in. His older brother’s couch wasn’t doing his back or heartache any justice. The king-sized bed that sat in the middle of their two-bedroom condo was where he belonged.

Karim was tough yet remarkedly gentle. Tossing Amiyah onto the bed, he stripped out of his jacket and flung it across the room. He stared at her lying on the bed and cursed himself. Fathoming a life without her essence was torture. Karim deemed Amiyah his. She was the apple of his eye and she belonged to him.

Amiyah giggled when he ripped her panties, and then pulled them from underneath her. If she had a dollar for all the underwear he’d tore from her body, she would be rich enough to own her very own underwear line.

Karim fell to his knees at her mercy. The bedroom was dark with a strip of the streetlight peering through the slight opening of the curtains. Amiyah lifted on her elbows to see what he was doing. Before she could utter a word, Karim snatched her to the edge of the bed and positioned her legs over his shoulder. Anticipating his tongue on her clit made her moan. Karim started by kissing her pussy the way he would her lips. Her clit compensated for her tongue as he swirled his tongue over it.

Amiyah traced her fingertips over his low-cut and cooed. He’d taught her to relax instead of running from the pleasure. It was a promise she never broke. A rule in their bedroom that she obeyed. She laid back with her bottom lip tucked between her teeth.

Amiyah focused ahead on the ecstasy to come. Her thighs trembled as he indulged passionately and proved just how much he’d missed her.

“Announce it,” he said. Amiyah quivered when he spoke against her pussy. Karim loved hearing her moan, but each time she stuttered and squealed during a powerful orgasm, he fell more in love with her.

“Karim!” She held his head in place to grind her hips. His thick beard tickled her clit. He approved by licking every inch of her pussy until she convulsed and screamed his name.

Karim licked his lips and stood with a boastful smirk on his face. Pulling her into his arms, he sat with his back against the headboard. Amiyah pushed her hair behind her shoulders and rested her head on his chest. It was safe there. The safest place she’d been in three weeks.

“Amiyah.” He lifted her hand to his lips for a gentle kiss.

“Hm?” she hummed, struggling to stay awake each second. Her eyes were heavy. Karim had arrived and suddenly, she could fall asleep with no issue.

“I love you,” he whispered against her forehead. Amiyah was already asleep before he’d completed the sentiment. She snored lightly in his arms but that never stopped him from talking. Those were the moments he spoke the most. When Amiyah slept, he spoke his peace without fear of an interruption, judgement or having her second guess that she was his entire world.

“Marriage doesn’t mean shit,” he whispered harshly. “My mom and dad taught me that. They walked away from each other. They regret taking it that far. She hates everything he stands for, and she blames him for the way me and my brothers took after his hustle. I’m hardheaded, Amiyah. I can’t help that shit. I can try. I just can’t have you grow to hate me after we’re married. Right now, you’re safe. Free to leave me. I can’t tie you down like that, baby. Not when you deserve better than me.” Karim kissed her forehead and sighed. He was expressing exactly what Amiyah needed to hear when she was awake and begging him for some understanding.

In the pocket of his jeans, his phone vibrated. His older brother, Rashad sent a code word through text that told Karim where to meet him. Karim slid from Amiyah’s hold, careful not to wake her. Rubbing over her cheek with the back of his hand, he whispered he loved her a final time, alarmed their condo, and rushed out the door to meet up with his brother on the business tip.

Leaving her side was never easy, only necessary to pay to the bills.

This second time around, Darius’ fairytale love is exactly what Shayla needs to get out of her hellish reality. There’s just one problem: Kurt isn’t willing to let her go easily. Will Shayla stay, or will she find the courage to leave and believe because of Darius that love doesn’t hurt?

Clearing my throat, I began to scoot my chair back. “I’m gonna go to the bathroom.”

I started to stand but Kurt squeezed my hand real tight and yanked my arm. I sat back down

“Kurt, I need to use the bathroom,” I told him.

“Don’t be all fuckin’ day in there and make me have to come looking for you,” he spoke through clenched teeth, squeezing my hand so tight that my eyes began to water.

I nodded and stood again. I could feel Darius’s eyes on me but I didn’t dare look his way. After a few steps, I could hear Darius’s voice.

“What the fuck is up with you man? You treat that woman like shit!” Darius said.

I didn’t hear Kurt’s response but I’m sure it was nothing but a bunch of bullshit. After asking a hostess, I found the bathroom near the front of the restaurant. As I walked past the entrance, I imagined myself making a run for it. But where would I go?

When I walked into the bathroom, I couldn’t help but notice how nice it was. Each stall was equipped with a sink and of course, a toilet, and even a small bench inside. Impressive!

After handling my business, I walked out of the stall and right into a hard chest, pushing me back into the stall and slamming the door shut. Initially, I didn’t see who it was, so I automatically thought it was Kurt on some bullshit.

Before I could protest, my back was against the wall, his lips are on mine and he shoved his tongue into my mouth. His lips are soft and plump. I could taste a trace of whatever liquor he had been drinking. Our tongues made circles around each other’s and I allowed myself to get lost.

His lips moved down and went back and forth between my ear and my neck, two of my most sensitive spots. He remembers! He lifted my dress above my waist and ripped my thongs off with one hand, while releasing his dick from his pants with the other. Not once did he stop devouring me with his mouth.

I felt his fingers brush against my clit, testing its wetness. He’s not disappointed. In one swift move, he is inside of me and I let out a moan. With my legs wrapped around his waist, he pumped inside of me, hard, fast, and deep.

Hope you’re ready for tomorrow!

“What are you doing here, Karim?” She sighed.

Karim’s chewing slowed to a halt. Swallowing hard, he sat the plate on the counter to approach her. “No.” She backed away from him. “I asked you a question.”

I’m eating,” he said. “And I’ve been hitting your line all daypretty girl. I paid the bill, so I know it’s on.” Karim didn’t need permission to pull her into his arms. He practically snatched her into him and held her close to his chest.

“I had a busy day at work.”

“That’s new? Muthafuckers used to be in the waiting room cursing you out for taking so long to get to them. You would stop everything moving to answer my call.”

“Karim,” she whined, struggling to break free from his arms. Eventually, she gave up the fight to rest her head against his chest. “Watch your mouth in my parent’s house.”

“My bad.” Karim stepped back and shook his head. Towering over her, he raised her chin with his index finger to finally have her eyes. “I don’t deserve this shit.”

“Karim!”

“You got a good nigga, pretty girl. Flawed like a muthafucker but I’m…”

“You can’t even help yourself, can you?”

Karim nodded and paused before trying it again. As he rubbed his fingers through his beautifully groomed beard, he never took his eyes off her. She’d hidden herself from him for weeks. Unsure of when he would see her again after this, he took his time to admire her.

“You don’t know what you’re doing. That’s what this is.”

“What?” she scoffed.

“You don’t know what you’re doing to me,” he whispered harshly and patted his chest aggressively. With Amiyah, he was a patient man. These days, Karim was fighting to get his point across—fighting to prove his love to a woman who thought marriage defined it

“Brent spare me the bullshit, you never wanted to be serious. Don’t come in here acting like you wanted to save the day. We both know you really don’t and never did care. And when you know how to successfully lead, you can speak on leading and not a moment sooner.” I commented.

“What do you need?”

“I’m pregnant.” I blurted out. This was the shit I hated about him. His dirty words always came out to play when he was hurt, well no longer the center of attention. I ignored him I was bulletproof. Certain shit didn’t have to be said and his time had ran out. I didn’t need his shit today. I didn’t need his little speech about how terrible of a woman I was. Shit I was already coming to that conclusion on my own.

He stepped closer to me biting his lip and eyes wider than saucers. “Are you really pregnant?” he asked.

“Yea now what?”

“We can’t have this baby. I’m married,” he whispered looking around. I knew something was up with him. That long speech he just gave was bullshit he couldn’t be serious with if he wanted to be serious. And how stupid was I to miss the signs. “After things ended with me and you, we decided to work things out. This would be a major setback for me. Get rid of it.”

“Stay the hell away from me and have a nice life.” I said through gritted teeth leaving him standing there. He might as well said fuck me with his speech of a setback. Somehow in his minds my feelings didn’t matter. My heart exploded, not because I would miss him but because I could be so damn reckless. I don’t know where that trait came from and why it was only present with men.

Looking out the window, I could see Toya out there going off on Brent about how he wasn’t shit and how low down he was. Her finger was extended in his face just an inch away from his nose. He was backing away with his hands raised as if he didn’t want anymore problems. I never wanted him here, I knew this would happen. I knew he would somehow make this about him and what was best for him.

“Why didn’t you just listen to me?” I asked she walked inside my house, pissed off. She was pacing and punching her hands. Her small petite frame had always been deadly and nothing to play with. I loved her for sticking up to me but nothing she said to him bothered him.

Brace yourself for these back to back 5 star reads next week!!

“Get dressed. I have a surprise for you.” Trent patted my knee before getting up. “You have twenty minutes before I change my mind.”

My brother’s surprises always included food, so I wasted no time getting dressed. I threw on a Howard alum shirt and a pair of stone-washed jeans. By the time I got downstairs, Trent was already at the door with his keys in his hand.

“Come on, kid.” He nodded his head in the direction of the door.

Trent surprised me by taking me to the new location of my favorite ice-cream stand. We sat in the parking lot eating our sundaes while he played a mixed CD we made years ago. It reminded me of our weekly ice-cream dates after we his left football practices. My parents made me stay after school with him so I wouldn’t be home alone. He knew how much I hated sitting in on his practices, so he always treated me with a sundae.

Trent put in another mixed CD that made me burst out into laughter. The CD was a mix of songs he’d made for his first crush.

“Remember Tanya Wilson?” I asked, and he groaned in response.

Trent had the biggest crush on her in high school. She was considered the most popular and prettiest girl in school. After crushing on her for a year, he finally built up the courage to ask her to the Valentine’s Day dance. Trent was too cool for a locker note or asking during lunch. Instead, he made her a mixed CD with all the songs that reminded him of her.

“Yes,” he said with flared nostrils.

He hated when I brought her up. Technically, that was his first girlfriend. And probably his first love, but he would never admit it. They dated for a year and broke-up after prom. A few months later, she was pregnant by her neighbor and now they were married with four kids.

“She’s happily married,” Trent said with a mean side-eye.

“I know. But why do you still have this CD though?”

He shrugged. “I like the songs.”

“Just admit she’s your first love,” I teased.

He turned up the music, completely ignoring me. A call coming through interrupted our jam session. The name that appeared on the screen made me roll my eyes. Trent smirked as he answered the phone.

“‘Sup, Zig.”

I sucked my teeth before stuffing a spoonful of ice cream in my mouth.

“You coming to the field today?” Zain’s voice was always calm and confident.

The two things that attracted me to him the most were his voice and calm demeanor. He was always laid back, no matter the situation. Even before games, he would be calm, almost in a meditative state. I remembered watching him from the bleachers as he mentally prepared for a game. He never had a hard time finding me and winking before running on the field. A faint smile appeared on my lips before I remembered I was supposed to be mad at him.

“Yeah, I’ll be there in an hour. Toni and I came to Sprinkles.”

I punched Trent for mentioning I was with him.

Zain laughed as he responded, “That woman loves some ice cream. Tell Bunni I said hey.”

Trent winked at me, and I turned to look out the window.

“I’ll see you later, bro.”

“Aight.”

After Trent disconnected the call, I punched him in the arm again.

“Why did you do that?” I fussed.

He shrugged before starting the car.

“He was going to ask about you anyway.” A playful smile covered his face. “The only reason you’re all in your feelings is because you still want him. Stop trying to play hard to get all the damn time.”

“Shut up. I don’t want to talk about him.” My tone had more inflection than I wanted.

That only made Trent more amused, but he dropped the subject and turned up the music.

Hope you’re ready for tomorrow!

Sneak peek

Valerie

As I sat at my desk, my mind drifted off, wondering what my life would have been like had I never met Eric. When Melissa came in, she scared the shit out of me. I’d never seen her walk in. “You okay, Valerie?” When I looked at her, her eyes widened, and she asked, “What happened to your eye?”

“Nothing.”

She didn’t push. She just put her arm around my shoulder and said, “Be strong enough to choose you. I’m gonna pray for you.”

I smiled slightly, then said, “Thank you.”

The day was slow, thank God, which meant there wasn’t a lot of up and down either. It was hard enough sitting there like I wasn’t in excruciating pain, so I was grateful that I didn’t have to keep getting up. Around two o’clock, a delivery guy walked in with flowers. It was a huge bouquet of pink stargaze lilies and cream-colored roses, accented with greenery and baby’s breath. I said to Melissa, “Those are beautiful. Somebody’s a lucky woman.”

“They really are.”

I continued to look over some notes to try to familiarize myself with the system.  I looked up to see the delivery guy in the doorway. “Valerie Porter?”

My eyes widened. “Um, yes. That’s me.”

He sat them on my desk and said, “Have a good day.”

“Thank you. You too.”

Melissa smiled tightly at me, assuming they were from Eric, I was sure. Eric had never bought me flowers. We didn’t have money for him to even think about buying a bouquet this extravagant. I swallowed hard then pulled the card from the envelope. It read:

Whenever you’re ready, Ms. Porter.  Call me 924-1652. Have a great day.

Isaac Ramirez

I showed the card to Melissa, and she nearly yelled. I smiled as I slid the card in my desk drawer.  I almost threw it in the trash, but I’d be a fool. There was no way I was gonna put that in my purse for Eric to find, though. She stared at me for a moment, then asked, “Are you gonna call him?”

My mind was saying, maybe, but to her, I said, “No.”

“Okay.  Not my business.” She called in our next customer.

My mind had been filled with thoughts of Isaac for the rest of the day. He was a pleasant and welcomed distraction from Eric. My body was hurting so badly I wanted to say fuck it and just go home. When I walked outside, again, Eric wasn’t here. I took a deep breath, wincing in pain shortly after, as I called him.  “Hello?”

“Are you on your way?”

“No. I’m still in Houston.”

“A call would have been nice, Eric, so I would have known to get a ride.”

“Yo, E! You ready to go in the booth?” I heard someone ask.

“Yeah!” he yelled back at them. “We’ll deal with your attitude when I get home.”

I threw my phone in my bag and let the tears fall freely.

Hope you’re ready for tomorrow!
