SYNOPSIS

Is it cliché to want a perfect love story? To have your heart beat out of rhythm and palms grow sweaty? Yazlyn Miller didn’t think so. In fact, the hopeless romantic has been in love with the idea of love since she became a witness to the unmeasurable lengths her father dedicated to giving her mother a fairytale love every day.

Yazlyn’s infatuation with love guided her to become one of the most sought-after Matchmakers in South Florida. Not only is she the go-to woman for all things love, but she has her own fairytale love story with the man that whisked her off her feet six years ago. The two have lived in such a bubble of bliss and utopia, that not even Yazlyn was prepared for the hurricane storm that tore down her veil of perfection. Now, she’s faced with a tough decision – Do I stay, or do I go?

What do you call a man that is wise above his years, strong-minded, determined, and sculpted in perfect chocolate? You call that man Kaalan Walker – a twenty-six-year-old who is returning back to his hometown after spending a year in Jamaica to handle some personal issues. Before he left the sunshine state, Kaalan was doing everything that young men his age do. Party, travel, and sow his wild oats. Now that he’s back, he’s ready to pick up where he left off, however, what he didn’t intend to pick up were strong feelings that immersed themselves within his heart for a burgundy locs matchmaker.

When it comes to Yazlyn, all is fair in love and war, and Kaalan stands by that oath. Regardless of the obstacles determined to keep them apart, Yazlyn and everyone else involved will quickly learn that when a man wants something, there is nothing or no one that can stop him from getting it.

SNEAK PEEK

“Can’t you see what you’ve done for me,” I whispered against her lips.

Yazlyn’s forehead touched mine. She moved her head back and forth as if she was entranced by our song.

“You satisfy…” She didn’t have to say the rest. It wasn’t needed. The only thing that needed to be said as I took a hold of her lips was thanks to Bob Marley for writing the song that would now be forever ours.

Kissing Yazlyn wasn’t like anything I imagined or felt. The softness of her lips and the soft moans she unapologetically released from the wrestle of our tongues made it hard for me to keep control. I had her held hostage by the lips and that wasn’t enough.

I needed her closer.

Wanted to bring us closer.

She opened me up in a way I never felt. In the back of my mind, I felt ashamed to be feeling such erotic yet tranquil emotions as a man. My thoughts weren’t just on making love to her until she begged me to stop, but they were on the white dress she would wear when I vowed to love her in sickness and in health. They were on our litter of children that would have a combination of both our features and personalities.

All these feelings shocked me. Was I becoming soft or losing my touch? Did it make me less of a man? To be honest I didn’t care. I’d have tranquil thoughts of Yazlyn as long as she was in my life.

I knew the magnetic pull from our kiss frightened Yazlyn because it frightened me. Warmth of love grew from the soles of my feet to the follicles of hair on my head.

Giving her time to breathe, I held her against me by the front of her neck. Maybe it wasn’t wise to do that. Her breathing became more shallow and unsteady. But that’s okay. I’d breathe enough for both of us.

“This is what I want. I want a love that is created from a single kiss from your lips. A love that scorches so deep in my veins. Tell me what does your heart desire, Yazlyn? Tell me what you want?”

My heart dropped seeing the tears puddled in her eyes. I was about to apologize if I came on too strong, but she stopped me by placing a single finger to my lips.

“I’ve had the unconditional love, Kaalan. I’ve had a spine-tingling love. Love that makes you smile for no reason at all. The love I want now and forevermore is the love of a husband who is ready to make me a wife. I’m done being the long-term girlfriend who settles for promise rings. I want a lifelong commitment. Can you give me that?”

FINAL SNEAK PEEK-GOD’S HAND IN US

Hey, beauty!

Tomorrow Desiree Francies makes her debut with “God’s Hand In Us” and we have one final look to share with you.

Godshandinus

SYNOPSIS

Mary Sinclair was brought up in a black Baptist church in Baltimore, and she’d considered herself spiritual. She stayed celibate, kept her virginity despite what she really wanted, and she’d patronized her family’s congregation often.

Does that mean she’d stopped going to the club, no. Had she achieved much outside of her career in fashion, nope. Could she have considered herself happy with her life, not so much. An affinity for a good drink, and no issues in laying down her religion if the moment required, were her usual vices. Add in a serious temper problem, dysfunctional family members, a comical band of the usual suspects she called friends, and it all served for some pretty heavy drama.

A perfect stranger, Darold Carson Weathers, barged into her life one day and simply refused to leave. He seemed to actually enjoy pushing her buttons, which didn’t help matters at all in her eyes. And Mary never once saw herself ending up with a white man. Persistence, a couple of misunderstandings, and a few violent episodes of her own finally persuade her to see things just a bit differently. Two strong willed individuals who have a flare for confrontation and getting their way are then forced to grow and change in ways they had no intentions of. But could they grow together? Take this journey of unexpected love with Mary and Darold to find out!

SNEAK PEEK

“So, do you think Darold is the one?” Chris asks me.

“I don’t know. I always assumed I’d end up with some well-established college graduate-suit wearing-VH1 soul type of brotha’. Like Raheem Devaughn after a growth spirt, or maybe throwback Tyrese when he was asking how she gon’ act like that.” I tell them. “Not Channing Tatum with a wig on.” I laugh.

“Aye, Channing is fine. I swear he’s a black man trapped in a white man’s body.” Des says with a point of her finger.

“I thought I was the only one who saw that!” Char exclaims. Chris rolls her eyes at this.

“Well anyway, DC has me questioning everything I thought I wanted in a man. He doesn’t listen, he’s stubborn, he pisses me off on a regular basis….” I state with a pause.

My friends all share a glance and then burst with laughter, and I’m just over here waiting for the punchline. I know my face has to convey my confusion, but they ignore me while wiping tears and holding their stomachs.

“What’s so freakin’ funny?” I ask when I can no longer take it.

“Girl that’s you!” Des finally tells me. “You just described yo’self to a tee!”

SNEAK PEEK

Blaze Anderson

A couple of our frat brothers told me that Sebastian was at the D.C. apartment. He needed to understand how easy it was for me to reach out and touch him. Especially with the whole town knowing about his recent scandal. It took me fifteen minutes to get to the apartment. When I got back in the car to head over here, going the speed limit wasn’t an option. I ran a couple of red lights to get here and get this nigga back in line. I pounded my fist against the door and stepped back. I waited while it took him forever and a damn day to come and open the door. It was only a matter of time before I got the urge to kick his shit in. I gave him a couple of seconds to pull the door open before I returned to banging on the door.

“Fuck is wrong with you!” Bas snapped pulling the door open. He looked at me with wild eyes like I was out my mind. Once he saw it was just me, he relaxed his face and chuckled. “Fuck you want, nigga?”

Wrong move.

“You rolled up on my wife today like that shit was ok?” I narrowed my eyes and flared my nostrils. I didn’t come over here in the middle of the night for him to play fucking reindeer games with me. I had a message that needed to be heard loud and clear. Blaze Anderson’s wife was off fucking limits.

“Chill out, Neo.”

“I’m going to ask you again… you rolled up on Dallas today like you don’t have good sense?” He kissed his teeth and continued to chuckle. I gave him a chance to speak because that’s what my wife would’ve wanted me to do. But she wasn’t here to say shit about how I was handling this.

SAMPLE

“What’s your biggest fear?”

I watched her face as she thought over my question.

“Honestly, death. More so dying without leaving my mark. Leaving behind a legacy that continues to benefit and bless others. What’s your biggest fear?” Her eyes connected with mine, and for the first time I wasn’t sure.

Of course I could say something superficial like heights or bugs, but what is something I truly fear? Picking up her other leg, I started to massage it the same way as I truly thought about my answer.

“I think it’s failure. For years I’ve placed so much pressure on myself to be successful that I’m scared as hell of failing. Failing as a business owner, failing as a boyfriend, hell even failing as a father figure. My dad set such a great example that I feel like if I don’t reach his level I failed,” taking a deep breath, I got silent and so did Gabriella.

Soon, I felt her leg being removed from my hands. Turning to look at her, she wrapped the towel around her body tighter and sat up. Placing my hand in hers, she kissed my palm and placed it against her chest.

“You’re an amazing man. You’ve stepped up in ways I could never fully thank you for. You’re a true King in his own right that doesn’t have to follow a life defined by the ways and characteristics of others. Sure, you may make a mistake, but who doesn’t? What’s important is the lesson you learn and the strength you gain to move forward. There is no failing.”

A warmth swept through my body. I’d never felt this before. I knew she was my Queen, and this was only confirmation. The true strength, power, and determination to not only be an amazing mother but an amazing role model and an even better support system and girlfriend spoke volumes.

“What the hell are you doing here?” My reaction to Sebastian Dupre’ leaning against the threshold of my salon was lethargic. After seeing the little bit of his life go up in flames on the news, I knew it would be a matter of time before he started weaseling his way around again. He always needed solace and as unfortunate as his karma was, I didn’t feel the need to offer him peace.

While Blaze was working, I decided to get out of the house and go to the salons. By the time I reached the door of the third salon, I was tired and I wanted to get back in the bed. Not to mention, I was having more than Braxton-Hicks contractions at this point.

“What? Not happy to see me?” he asked with a smug grin. Still the same old Sebastian, arrogant as hell. “I see you’re coming along nicely.”

“What do you want? Speak plainly. I don’t have all fucking day to entertain you,” I snarled through my teeth as I pushed the door to the salon open. There were two stylists in today tending to their clients. After I greeted everyone, I made my way to the office slowly while Bas trailed behind me.

“It wasn’t that hard to find you. Everyone knows who you are,” he shrugged. “You happy?”

“Don’t I look like I’m fuckboy free?” I quipped causing his brows to furrow. “What do you want? I have nothing for you. I don’t want to be seen with you. Anything attached to you crumbles into a thousand pieces or either goes up in flames. I will not risk Blazes’ reputation for the likes of you.”

His energy was heavy and the sight of him was irritating. I knew I should’ve stayed my ass at home today. Sebastian was cancer, he attacked whatever organ he could just to feel like he was in control. “Alexia know you’re here harassing me?”

“This isn’t harassment. This is two friends catching up,” he was cunning like the devil himself. Everything in his aura screamed brokenness. I couldn’t allow his broken pieces anywhere near my healed vessel. He would chip away until I shattered, again.

SYNOPSIS

Two more male arms cover mine in an attempt to hold me back. I keep fighting until I finally give up and fall to my knees. A warm male body I assume is Jay appears in front of me and pulls me to him. I just fall apart in his arms and weep into his chest.

“I’m… just… so… angry!” I say between sobs into his shirt.

“I know, Babe. I know,” comes from over my ear. I freeze. That is not the voice I expected to hear. But I know that voice and I also know exactly who it belongs to. I feel my eyes open and widen as they glance up to find my new friend.

“DC?” He places his hands on both sides of my face and wipes my hair away.

“It’s like this beastly thing looking for the exact moment to take over.” He ignores my astonishment. “This voice in your head and presence right next to you magnifying every wrong ever done to you and motivating you to seek absolution in the worst way possible.”

“You think there’s this one act or decision that will satisfy it. But Mary, nothing ever will. Trying to satisfy that beast is just going to take you some place you can never get back from. Look at what you almost did, you almost murdered your stepbrother. You almost threw your whole life away, baby.” He stares into my eyes willing me to see his point.

SAMPLE

Ringing the doorbell, she and I stood with wondering eyes looking at every nook and crevice of the home. Blame it on watching reruns on HGTV.

“Yeah, Mr. Toddler definitely is fine,” Georgia mumbled low enough for me to hear as we both stared at the god…I mean man who opened the door.

Dark denim jeans hung loosely off his narrow hips with grey Polo boxers rimming his waste. On his feet were the latest Lebron’s. I knew that because I just bought the same pair for Marshawn a week ago.

Trailing my eyes up from his feet, I noticed the bend in his legs.

Damn. He’s bowlegged.

Moving along my trail of admiration, I found myself biting my lip taking in the short black hairs that started below his navel and blossomed up his honey brown skin.

A man with chest hairs had always been a weakness for me. Then he had the nerve to have his muscled chest decorated in sexy tattoos. Just as I got to his neck I noticed he must’ve been in the middle of putting on a shirt. The white fabric hung on his arm and neck.

His neck.

Strong.

Veiny.

Kissable.

My low eyes fluttered seeing his freshly trimmed goatee. He didn’t have a full beard like a lot of men were sporting nowadays. Instead, his was precisely trimmed to perfection and connected to his top lip…

Damn those lips.

Even with them being covered in toothpaste and hiked in a snarl, I could tell they were deliciously pink and juicy.

I took a breath when I reached the single stud in his nose and the set of expensive frames around his dark eyes. Eyes that were filled with humor from my open ogling yet filled with a look I hadn’t seen before.

“Y’all too fine to be Jehovah Witnesses, and today ain’t Saturday. What y’all want? I ain’t buying shit, and unless you got some girl scout cookies in them big ass bags I don’t want it.”

Georgia giggled like a star struck school girl.

I, on the other hand, was paralyzed.

Stuck.

Feet planted on this sexy creature’s doorstep ready to fall to the ground all from hearing the husk of his voice.

A voice that had no business belonging to a twenty-six-year-old man. That voice belonged on a full well-matured man.

In the middle of me staring, sketching his beauty in my brain, he continued brushing his teeth. He watched me just as I watched him, and then I saw them.

Two dimples.

Not just any ole dimples. These were deep. Sexy and I so wanted to spray whipped cream in them just to lick it off.

“Really, Kaalan? Can you go finish getting dressed?” A small body squeezed around him and rudely blocked my view of his peach fuzz chest. “Hi. I’m Kylie Walker. You must be Yazlyn.”

Finding my manners, I cleared my throat and introduced myself. “Hi. Nice to meet you. Yes, I’m Yazlyn Miller and this is my partner Georgia King.”

“Nice to meet you both. This is my Neanderthal brother, Kaalan Walker.” Kaalan nodded his head before walking away giving me another piece of his glory to drool over.

I loved the back of a man. Seeing his muscles flex and strain…goodness, I needed to get my mind right.

“Please come in.” Kylie stepped aside and waved for us to enter.

“Wipe your lip before you drool on these people floor,” Georgia whispered in my ear.

Knowing how I stared that man down I wouldn’t be surprised if drool was running down my face.

“I gotta be real Zoey from the looks of your home, you’ve accomplished not being like your parents. Why you not married and having kids right now?”

“Why aren’t you married with kids?”

She throws the question right back at me. I stare at her and notice, for the millionth time, how absolutely gorgeous she is. The urge to take her down returns and I feel my mans rising.

“I think it’s time for me to go.” I glance at my watch and stand up. The sun was coming up, so I was sure my partner already left.

“Oh damn. Yeah. I’m going to run to the corner store to grab some breakfast,” she says walking to the door with me.

Instead of her heels, she throws on her running sneakers and stuffs some cash into her back pocket. That move made me look down at her peach. Throwing caution to the wind again, I grab a handful. “Is this real?”

She busts out laughing so hard she actually snorts.  “Have you encountered a fake one?” She sobers and asks.

“Yes, actually.” I just had to ask. Now, I don’t mind a fake ass, but I like to know if she was born with it or not.

“My ass is very real. I don’t see the point in surgery for a look. The only surgery I’m opting for is one that’ll save my life. Besides I’ve never been so pressed to impress a man in my life.”

“Breakfast on me in the morning?” I inquired, requesting an early morning date that would instantly brighten my day.

“Having you for breakfast in the morning sounds better. What do you say to that?” Towering over me, his chin rested atop my head. Engulfed in Kingston’s strong arms, I breathed him in and cherished the moment before it was stripped away from me.

“The key is under the mat,” I reminded him.

“You’re still the most beautiful woman in the world to me,” Kingston responded, completely off-topic, but much appreciated anyway. These were the times I needed to be reminded exactly how he viewed me. When I looked in the mirror, a monster stared back at me. For how I’d betrayed him, my thoughts had turned harsh on me.

If he still considered me the most beautiful girl in the world, there was truly hope for me after all.

“To think of someone else touching you like this.” He traced his thumb over my lips. “Enjoying you in ways I have.” Kingston parted my lips with his thumb to push it slightly in my mouth. I swirled my tongue around it before concluding with a kiss. “Fucks me up.” He stepped back and dropped his head.

What have I done to him?

Kingston was transforming from a good man to a hurt one. Lord knows I despised myself for it!

“I’ll apologize until I’m out of breath. For you, I’ll do any…”

Kingston lifted his hand for me to stop, then softly stroked my cheek with the back of his hand. “I’m telling you how I feel. Learn to handle that without beating yourself up about it each time. You’ve done that enough. I just need you to understand how I feel. Got me?” Bending down to match my height, he beckoned my optics by tilting my head to the side.

“I do.”

“Then we’re good.” With our fingers intertwined, he led me to my driver’s door and opened the door to watch me step in. The day was coming across just as brick as the edges of my heart were becoming. Going home without him was an option that made me sick.

“Wait,” I whispered before he closed the door and stepped aside to watch me leave. “I love you.”

Kingston smirked and bent down to kiss my forehead. Taking a deep breath with his full lips connected to my forehead, he tucked short strands of my curls behind my ear and exhaled wearingly. “I love you too, Aumora. And we’ll figure this shit out. Together.”

Room 836

Stopping in front of the door, I hesitated before I raised my hand to knock on the door. My heart was pounding against my chest. I had no business here, both of us knew it. I should’ve been home making things right with my wife. I’d ignored all these missed calls and texts from her. Seeing the door open and exposing Alexia who, of course, wore the most tempting outfit she could find. It had been a year since I saw Alexia. Asha thought my demeanor towards her was cold, that was just me trying to keep my pants up and honor my vows. Initially, when I texted her, I wanted to talk about her backing off so I could have my wife to myself again, but all that flew out the window upon me stepping into this room.

“Wasn’t expecting to hear from you. You know, since you cut me off and everything,” she started pulling her silk robe shut. It was too late for that. I already saw everything she had to offer, and I was fully awake. These Jordan sweatpants were going to tell all of my secrets. “Asha doesn’t know you’re here, right?”

“No,” I answered before scratching my head. “I-I should go, this was a bad idea.”

SNEAK PEEK

We drove separate cars, and the boys opted to ride with their dad. “Mommy, you kissed Daddy.”

I let the air leave me like a deflated balloon. Ignoring her, I turned up the radio and watched her excitement when “Can’t Stop the Feeling” from the Troll Movie blasted through the speakers. Hopefully, that would make her forget about the conversation she was trying to start. I tried to forget about it myself and hummed along to the music.

When we got to the park, the kids were so excited. The boys took off their t-shirts and threw them at Jonathan, then the three of them took off for the water. I slowly shook my head as I giggled at their excitement. Jonathan helped me get their towels and the picnic basket from the car. We walked to a nearby picnic table and watched the kids play. “If I bring the kids to daycare Tuesday next week, can you get them?”

“Of course. What’s going on?”

“I have a job interview, finally.”

“That’s good, baby. You know you don’t have to work though, right?”

I fidgeted for a moment, then looked up at him. “Jonathan, I need to be able to provide for myself. You won’t be able to keep taking care of two households. How will I move on?”

“I was hoping… praying that you didn’t want to move on.”

“Why?”

“I still love you. I know that you still love me.”

“But I don’t trust you, Jonathan.”

“I know, but I was hoping that with time, you would learn to again.”

“Jonathan…”

Before I could finish my sentence, that bitch Ranika interrupted, “Oh, so this why you ain’t answering your work phone.”

I stood to my feet, because I’d been dying for another opportunity to get at her ass. “I’m spending time with my family, Ranika. What do you want?”

“Oh, y’all a family again? You might wanna tell her that you still fucking me when it’s convenient for you.”

My eyes widened, then I slapped the piss out of that bitch. Jonathan tried to grab me, but I slapped his ass too. She stood there holding her face, then tried to lunge at me, but Jonathan grabbed her. He restrained her as I gathered our things. “Ansley, please. Ranika doesn’t mean anything to me.”

Right after he said that, she turned and slapped him while yelling obscenities. I went to the kids while they argued. “Come on, let’s go. I’m gonna take y’all to a better park.”

“Aww!” they all whined.

“Now! Let’s go!”

They all ran to me and I draped their towels around them and hurried to the car. After strapping Alana in, I could see Jonathan trying to break free from Ranika. I hurriedly got in the driver’s seat and made sure the boys were buckled in, then peeled out of there.
