“So are we done here?” he asked standing to his feet completely ignoring what I said. His body shaded mine. I couldn’t feel the sun beaming down on my back. Raising my eyes to meet his, his distant look told pieces of his story and explained why he wasn’t comfortable telling it to me. Dooney didn’t trust easy and he was embarrassed. I wondered how bad it was for him to be so guarded about it. I needed to do some digging on my own to try and understand his stance on shutting the world out.

“Yea, for the day, but Friday we change your wardrobe for functions. We are doing this whether you tell me your story or not.”

“You just don’t know how to quit huh?” he asked with a slight chuckle. Quitting was one thing my mother never taught me. I was pressing forward because that was my job. We could play this game his way for now but eventually he wouldn’t be able to shut me out. I wasn’t going to give up.

“Damn right, you don’t scare me. I have a job to do and I plan to do it whether you play nice or not. Even if that means I can’t ride you like a boogie board until after.”

“What?” he asked laughing and falling back into the door.

“You heard me. Play nice with me and I’ll play nice with you,” I winked and gathered my things. In the midst of grabbing my purse I knocked it over. All my belongings fell to the floor and as I bent down to pick them up, he spotted my small pouch of pills. I almost knocked him over to get to them before he could investigate. He stood and watched me gather my things and I couldn’t even look him in the eyes. Stepping to the door, he stopped me, lifted my chin and looked in my eyes with a knowing look. The stare was so powerful, I felt my knees buckle.

“Belize, you are probably the sexiest woman I’ve laid eyes on with those gray eyes, light freckles and damn sexy body but I’m not my niggas. You won’t have me out here weeping like a bitch. And you better make sure your hustle bigger than your habit.”

“And, Dooney, let me make something clear since we’re being honest. I don’t quit and I don’t like being told no. I don’t want you weeping, I want you screaming my name. Good day,” I responded. Side stepping and exiting the door, I turned to check if he was watching and he was. Dooney was watching all while licking his lips and stroking his full beard.

SYNOPSIS

They say experience is the best teacher, but apparently, Ashahve still has more to learn. After falling for who she believes is the man of her dreams, familiar patterns and habits start to rear their ugly heads. Determined not to take any chances, she chooses to do something about it early on. However, she wonders if she made the right decision. Her heart won’t let her move on, and it tends to care about past acquaintances far more than it should.

Struggling his entire life to cope with traumatic events, Omari has yet to see so many things go wrong at once. Before he can fully recover from one thing, he’s hit with the next. Life unexpectedly hands out blow after blow. Revealing his true emotions has always been a problem for him, so he does what he knows to do regarding them. It doesn’t help that he still doesn’t know how to handle past disappointments. When new issues arise, they only compound on top of old ones, threatening to make a lethal combination.

Finding peace and learning from past decisions has Elijah living a renewed life. He’s been able to come to grips with his choices and their consequences. There’s only one problem; he still loves the woman he was forced to leave in the past. Despite the advice of others and trying to move on with someone new, he can’t seem to leave her where she belongs. Unfortunately, she doesn’t make this decision easy for him to make. While his attachment to this woman nearly caused his ruin once before, he’s willing to take that risk once again.

Three totally different personalities find themselves weaved into an ugly web, that they never fully made it out of, one of them barely escaping by the skin of their teeth. Unable to control their desires, they find themselves in compromising situations that threaten to take them captive. Who will overcome and come out on top this time?

SAMPLE

I ripped her silk and lace thong right off her, and dove tongue-first into her. Shavi flinched at my roughness and let a moan escape her lips. She was so sweet and was her own flavor of Kool-Aid. I loved Kool-Aid. Swirling my tongue around her trigger, she grabbed my head and pulled me closer, practically drowning me in that mango squeeze. Once I began sucking her clit, I slid two fingers inside of her and held her in place with my other arm.

She was squirming all over the bed, moaning softly, while her hands held my head in pace. I hit that G-spot in the come-hither motion as I sucked her clit. She removed her hands from my head, then grabbed a pillow and screamed into it as she came all over my face. I literally had to stop before she drowned me. She was squirting everywhere, and I loved every minute of it. I couldn’t wait for her to stop.

I wanted her to squirt on me where it counted most. Swiftly removing my pants, I dove into her pussy as she continued to release her juices. Staying on my knees as I lifted her hips and stroked her slowly, I watched that thang juice all over my dick. That shit had me trembling. I was so damned turned on and turned out, I could feel my nut rising already.

It was too soon for that shit. My lil baby deserved an all-night worship of her body. That body was just as blessed as her heart. It was what first attracted me to her. That coke bottle ain’t had shit on Shavi. Her ass was like two fluffy pillows that made a nigga weak and she had the thighs to match that shit.

She removed the pillow from her face as I released her hips and leaned over her, tongue kissing those Hershey kisses on her chest. I swore her nipples had chocolate coming from them. Everything about her body had me addicted… craving her daily. Shit, if I could have her every hour, I would. Her soft moans were like music to my ears, serenading me through this amazing workout. Not to mention the accompaniment her pussy was giving. That made it a masterpiece that I should be recording.

Those gushy noises were like balm to an open wound… healing me in every way imaginable. My lips made their way to hers and I kissed her like my life depended on it. She was the nourishment to my heart… my soul… my mind, and this was the only way I felt completely comfortable saying that to her. I said it through my actions, and by the sounds she was making, I had no choice but to assume she was pleased.

You know it’s your turn to settle down,” Toni mentioned. Instantly my nose turned up as if there was a strong stench in the room. Toni was on that good foolishness today.

“Just because y’all turned in y’all playa cards doesn’t mean the clock is ticking on me. I’m good single.” I couldn’t wrap my head around why every time we got around we were having this conversation. At one point it was me and Toni convincing Dawn and now they were teaming up against me with talks of the R word.

“We all said that now look at us,” Dawn commented. Her wedding ring twinkled and caught my eye, it was beautiful. Out of the twenty two years on this earth settling down hadn’t crossed my mind like I knew it should have. By now I should have considered it, but I really hadn’t given it much thought. The future scared me when it came to getting married. I couldn’t imagine being with the same person every day all damn day. Or dealing with someone that couldn’t keep it in the pants. I’d be in the darkest hole the penal system had if I got fucked over.

“But you two are different. Ultimately you wanted it. I can’t say that I want it. I’m not totally  against love or monogamy it’s just to much pressure for me.”

“The pressure is the best part. The ability to love someone and fully trust them is almost as good as sex. I know when I come home my person is there to be my person. There’s nothing wrong with being exclusive.”

“I’m happy for you both but being exclusive requires a lot of thinking about others and forgetting about yourself. I’m just not there yet.”

I watched my mother eat and dispose of men my entire life. There was no doubt in my mind that I wasn’t just like her. In high school, I played the boys, and now was no different. She would bring them in keep them around until she got what she needed and by morning they would be gone back home to their wives and children. It was a cycle that planted a seed of fear so deep in me it was now a budding tree of being treated the same.

“She’s still young, Dawn and I can’t blame her. Had it not been for Esko hounding me like a dog I would still be in these streets chewing men up and spitting them out like sunflower seeds,” Toni commented.

“I just fear turning out like Levitra Shante Thorne. She still hasn’t planted her roots and she going on fifty. I’m probably cursed or some shit.”

The only way I could combat the nagging feeling of being the wife was to not become a wife. Over the span of her scheming, several wives had come to our home with makeup running, tears rolling down their faces and kids in tow to address my mother about sleeping with their husbands or draining their bank account.

“You not cursed. You just need to find someone that can show you love and how it opens you to all kinds of other shit. Love is the key,” Dawn said attempting to convince me. Even at a young age I knew I wasn’t cut out for relationships. I hadn’t learned how to love properly because I wasn’t loved properly.

“You know I watched her love everything but me. If your own momma can’t love you who can?”

Third-6/30-Could This Be Love-Kay ShaneeCould This Be Love

SYNOPSIS

Twenty-seven-year-old, single mother, Nia Simpson’s professional life couldn’t be better. She loves everything about her job as a Human Resources Training Manager. However, her personal life leaves a lot to be desired. Her last relationship ended horribly, over four years ago. Refusing to be burned again, she decided to focus on her career, and because she isn’t a fan of one night stands, her sex life is non-existent.

In comes Raffiel.

Thirty-two-year-old Raffiel Jeffries is every woman’s dream. Tall, dark, handsome, and beyond successful. As the CEO of Jeffries Management, Inc., he can have any woman he wants and there have been times in his life when he did just that. However, as he’s gotten older and more mature, he has a strong desire to love one and be loved by one woman. He thought he had found that in his ex but she was a fraud.

When these two meet, sparks fly and they can’t resist the pull they have on each other. However, the baggage that they both bring to the table creates some issues that neither one of them is prepared to handle. Even still, controlling the speed at which they are falling for each other is impossible as they both question if this could be love.

SAMPLE

The door opened and the person on the other side of it could have been Nia’s twin. But Raffiel knew that she wasn’t his baby. He assumed it was her younger sister and was glad that she decided to let him in. From the looks of it, Nia was about to let him stand outside all damn night. She was standing away from the door with a .22 caliber gun in her hand.

He walked in and at first, neither Raffiel nor Nia said a word. They held each other’s gaze for what seemed like forever before Raffiel spoke up.

“The hell you gon’ do with that lil shit, Nia?” Raffiel referred to the tiny handgun Nia still held in her hand.

“Wha- what are you doing here?” she asked timidly, her eyes blinking a mile a minute.

“What did you expect? I went to your suite expecting to find you there and it was empty. I lost count of the number of times I called your phone. Did you think that I was gon’ just let you go?” He took a few more steps in her direction.

“I didn’t expect you to fly all the way to Chicago in the middle of the night. You shouldn’t be here.” She walked backward a few steps because she knew that when he touched her any argument she had would be long forgotten.

“I thought we discussed this already.” The sadness and confusion in his voice was very apparent.

“That was before I found out that you owned the damn company! You failed to share with me that important piece of information!” she yelled, swinging the gun.

“Sissy,” Nila approached her and snatched the gun from her hands. “I’ll just take this before you do something stupid.”

Nila scurried into Nia’s bedroom to put the gun back in the box and locked it. She knew that she probably should give them some privacy but she was too nosey and wanted to see how this would play out. Returning to the living room, she sat on the couch and watched the drama unfold.

“Why does that matter? Does me being the CEO change what’s happening between us and how you feel about me?”

“You’re not just the CEO, Raffiel. You own the damn company! I would say that changes a lot!”

FINAL SNEAK PEEK-MORE THAN A CRUSH

Hey, reader!

Tomorrow Chelsea Maria returns with More Than A Crush and we have one final sneak peek to share with you!

SYNOPSIS

Her

He asked me to tutor him in the eleventh grade. That was the first time my young heart fell out of rhythm. By senior year, we were best friends, and my unconditional love for him had awakened. By the time we finished college, I experienced my first heartbreak.

He’d chosen another. Someone that wasn’t me.

He’s still my best friend. I love him. All I need is for him to love me the way I’ve always loved him, but now I’ve embarked upon another problem…

I’m falling in love with someone else.

Is it too late for us? Why can’t he see me? See that I’m the only woman who can love him efficiently.

Him

The first time I laid eyes on her; time stopped. I vowed to never let her go and accepted the tormenting role of being her best-friend. I wanted to be her lover.

I courted others unwillingly, because she sought men that weren’t me.

She’s the air that I breathe. No one else compares to her.

Am I invisible? Why can’t she see me? See that I’m the only man who can fill her hollow places.

SNEAK PEEK

Gripping the end of my jersey that she wore, I pulled her into me. “I’ve missed you so much, Gia. I don’t like it when we’re at odds.”

“Me either,” she mumbled, holding onto me with a tight grip.

The silence that passed between us was needed. It gave us time to get reacquainted with one another. For my body to relax and heart to smile. I missed smelling her oatmeal and honey fragrance. Missed her blonde pixie cut. Missed feeling her hands hold onto me like she was afraid of letting me go.

All I wanted was my heartbeat to get back in sync with hers so I could breathe without feeling like it was my last. Our connection was too powerful to break over something like this. We were stronger than this.

“I know…”

“We can’t…”

We shared a laugh. Our minds were working in overload and wanted to speak at the same time.

Glancing at her front door, knowing who stood behind it waiting, I chose my words carefully. “Before you fix your mouth to say that what happened between us was a mistake or I wasn’t thinking clearly, I was. I meant everything, and I’ll say it again, so you know that I didn’t speak out my ass. I want you as mine, Gianni.”

Already her head was shaking. “Chauncey, I-I…”

“Gianni, we need to finish our talk.” I hated how she felt like she had to move out of my arms because her lame ass dude came back out.

“Yo, you don’t see that she’s talking.” I moved her to the side and stepped towards him.  He didn’t know how much of a death wish he had over his head.

“I’m coming, Terrance. Give me a few minutes.” Seeing her hand on his chest, infuriated me.

“No, Gianni. Come inside.” He kept whining like a little bitch.

Closing her eyes, she sighed and cleared her throat. Right when I thought she was about to let him have it for frustrating her, she surprised me by what she said. “Chauncey, my answer is still the same. Nothing will change. Go back to camp before they find out that you left.” Watching her close the door in my face, my heart broke.

But still, that wasn’t enough.

Resting my head on the door, I held the knob in my hand. Call it weird or crazy, but I felt like she was on the other side of the door doing the same. Our connection hadn’t been cut off. The door separating us didn’t stop it.

“I promise I won’t stop fighting for you, Gianni.” Knowing that I needed to get going, I reluctantly walked away.

“Give me your phone.” Here we go. Chauncey was selfish and stingy. He hated his time being disturbed, and when he wanted you, he wanted all of you. No interruptions. No distractions. Nothing but you giving him your attention.

“Haven’t you grown out of being so demanding and spoiled?” I had no problem handing over my phone. I loved when he demanded my attention without caring if someone else suffered. He wanted what he wanted.

“Gianni.”

“Chauncey.”

His eyes slanted in the corners. He tried to break me down with his signature pensive unwavering stare, but I stood my ground. “Ol’ boy had his time,” he held his hand out. “Now, I want mine.”

Everyone on planet Earth knew how much Terrance and Chauncey disliked each other. Terrance hated how close he and I were, how I wouldn’t compromise when it came to Chauncey. And Chauncey thought I could do better.

Huffing, I gave in. I knew who I was dealing with and he wouldn’t stop until he had my phone. Ironically, right as I placed it in his hands, Terrance was calling. I tried to pry it out of his hand but that was an epic fail on my part.

Smirking, he answered my phone. “Gianni isn’t available and won’t be until I feel like letting her go. Don’t worry. She’s in good hands.” He hung up and powered off my phone, placing it in his pocket.

“Fix your face,” he scowled.

“Why must you act so childish?”

“Why must you keep giving what is mine to a dude that doesn’t deserve you?”

Chauncey one. Gianni zero.

Okay, he won that round.

SAMPLE

Once we got to Floyd’s, Omari seemed extremely quiet. We’d talked briefly about how he told Jordynn that he and Piper needed to talk before she could see her again. He said Jordynn seemed to understand. As long as she would get to eventually see Piper, she was okay. Hopefully, they worked this out soon for her sake. He walked around and opened my door, then Jordynn’s.

“Thank you, Da-dy.”

“Yeah. Thank you, Daddy.”

Jordynn giggled as Omari looked at me with a one-cheeked smile on his face. Instead of allowing Jordynn to walk between us, he walked in the middle, holding me at my waist. He kissed my shoulder. “Damn, shawty. You look so good. I can’t wait to hear you call me daddy later,” he mumbled close to my ear.

“I bet you can’t.”

He chuckled as we walked inside. Being that it was a weekday, we were seated right away. You couldn’t get within a mile of this place on the weekends. Their food was that good. They sold a variety of seafood and American cuisine, that kept people in southeast Texas feeling right at home. The atmosphere was light, and it was just an all-around comfortable setting.

“Ooooh, I want some alligator,” I said as I salivated merely at the thought.

“Alligator?” Jordynn asked with her face scrunched up.

Omari chuckled. “Yeah, baby girl. They cut the tail up in pieces and fry it.”

“Yuck!”

We both laughed at Jordynn’s facial expression. The waitress came to take our drink and appetizer orders, and we were practically quiet until she returned. I was known to lack conversation at times, but lately, I’d feed off Omari. But he was quiet. Before we could dig into the alligator, Omari grabbed my hand. My eyes lifted to his and he grabbed Jordynn’s as well. I could feel the slight tremble in his hand, and it made me somewhat nervous.

Omari didn’t seem to have a fearful bone in his body, but here he was trembling like he was scared. He bowed his head and he began to pray. That was odd as well, because we always said our own grace. I listened to him thank the Lord for the food and for us being able to dine together. Then he said, “I also wanna thank you for bringing Ashahve into our lives. She’s the woman I’ve always wanted. I hope she can feel how much I love her, because I suck at this emotional thing.”

My eyes popped open and I stared at him as he continued. “Lord, she’s perfect for me. Help me to give her everything she desires emotionally… everything she needs. In Jesus name, Amen.”

The tears were falling down my cheeks as Omari opened his eyes and looked right at me. “I love you, Ashahve.”

I felt like I was hyperventilating. I always thought I would be the one to say it first without knowing for sure if I’d get a response. “I love you too, Shavi!” Jordynn added.

I swallowed hard and stood to my feet as he watched. After walking over to him, he stood from his seat and I pulled his face to mine and laid a huge kiss on him. “Omari, I love you too.”

The tears really sprang from my eyes, just from saying those words to him. He pulled me in his arms and held me close as Jordynn asked, “What’s wrong?”

Pulling away from him, I turned to her and said, “I love you too, baby. And for once, nothing’s wrong. Everything is right.”

Coming 6/19-Ash Ley-Atonement: When It All Falls Downatonement

SYNOPSIS

After her mother’s untimely passing, Juniper Tate left the only home she’d ever known. As the years pass, Juniper realizes the only way to truly move forward with her life is if she returns to the place that still holds so many painful memories. Being welcomed back with open arms makes Juniper think the rash decision is going to be the best she’s made yet. Her desire to feel wanted and shake the loneliness that’s plagued her for so long results in her making one too many mistakes. When it’s all said and done, she finds herself struggling for redemption and being left to pay the price for all of her wrong doing.

SAMPLE

It was sad too because I easily could’ve felt differently had he taken a little bit of time to make sure my needs were met as well. But that’s a risk I knew about when I decided to sleep with a stranger.

When I made it to the elevator, I was surprised that I was having to wait for it to reach me. I imagined there’d be no one in this sleazy hotel and if there was, they’d still be sleeping. Hearing the woman behind me clearing her throat made me face her. She had her nose pointed to the ceiling as she took in my slightly disheveled appearance, acknowledging that she knew what I’d done last night. My untidy hair, the wrinkled and slightly torn dress and the underwear that were balled up in my hand. I’ll admit, me being barefoot while my heels were in my other hand didn’t help. Still, she didn’t know me so who was she to even look my way as if she were disappointed?

“Can I help you with something?”

Her eyes widened as she quickly shook her head from side to side. As if on que the elevator arrived. While I stepped on, she stayed behind waiting on the next one. She was smarter than she let on because I was seconds away from lighting into her judgmental ass. I already wasn’t the proudest of being caught doing the walk of shame and didn’t need her, a complete stranger, making it worse. I was young and just wanted to enjoy my life.

For years, I’d lived my life in one way and one way only. By the books. I was a good girl in every sense of the word. I went to school and worked most of my life. Now that I had graduated and was in a position to take care of myself, I was being wilder. More carefree. I no longer knew limits and because of it there seemed to be a fine line on what I would and wouldn’t do. Of course this wasn’t going to be long term. I had plans on settling down, falling in love and all of that good stuff. Just no time soon. There was money to make and fun to be had. Everything else could honestly wait.
