After an unusual first encounter, two complete strangers simply trying to escape their harsh realities by vacationing on a beautiful island find themselves in a situation neither bargained for. As their short time together begins to dwindle, neither can help but wonder if them crossing paths was merely a coincidence or a twist of fate meant to pull them together. In this sizzling novella, Moira and Chance have nothing to lose, but so much to gain. Will they be able to continue on with what started as an innocent fantasy, or will reality be better than their fantasies causing them to want more?

His deep baritone sliced through the silence in the air. As I was, he was confused as hell. He slowly sat himself up, trying to take in his surroundings when he saw me. I don’t know what I was expecting, but the shake of his head wasn’t it. He went to sit himself up, meaning that I had to stand for him to do so. He ran both of his large hands down his face, all the while continuing to shake his head.

“What time is it?” He asked.

“I… I don’t know,” I admitted.

He looked at me, almost as if to say, “Are you serious.” It didn’t bother me before the condition I was in. Aside from the embarrassment at least. Now, I was downright feeling sorry for myself. I don’t know how I told myself to hold it together only to have fallen completely apart at the seams.

“How you feeling? Better than earlier I hope.”

The comment was innocent. Harmless. I knew it was, but it only made me feel worse. All I could think about was what this man possibly thought about me. What anyone who was around thought about me. Being around complete strangers was supposed to be the best part of this trip, but it had quickly become the worse. I really was better than getting pissy drunk and throwing up all over the place, but I’d let my issues reduce me to nothing but a story people would be laughing at with their friends.

“I guess.” I shrugged.

It came off colder than I realized. Because of it, he chuckled, slowly rising to his feet. He collected his things, all the while continuing to shake his head at me.

“Nasty ass bitch,” He mumbled.

“What did you just call me?”

He exhaled sharply, jaw clenching as he stared at the ground. His nostrils flared wildly as he massaged his temples. He was so damn quiet that I would’ve thought he hadn’t heard me, but I knew that wasn’t the case. However, I was still about to repeat myself. I didn’t know who he thought he was talking to, about rather, but he had me fucked up.

“I’m sorry. I didn’t mean to be disrespectful, but you do have a nasty ass attitude. I don’t fucking know you, let alone what the fuck you have going on, yet I’ve wasted an entire day of my vacation babysitting your grown ass. Trying to make sure you got where you needed in one piece and staying because you asked me to. Just for your rude ass to act like that shit is nothing. I hope you feel better, but I’m out.”
