Starting with poetry, writing has always been a constant in Monica’s life. The interest began in her teenage years, being in love for the first time. Her love for writing has only progressed. Song lyrics and poetry led to short stories, then one day in her down time, a short story became a 56k word novel. It has been non-stop since then. Being a wife and mother has only added to the joys of Monica’s life. Attaining a BS in Sociology, helping her better understand people and their behaviors, has only helped her become a better writer, understanding characters and their complex personalities. Romance of all types has been her passion, and she plans to continue honing her skills in that genre.

Aliada Duncan was born and raised in Furman, South Carolina. She now resides in Columbia, South Carolina and is a member of the Columbia’s Writers Alliance. Her interest peeked in writing when she discovered the likes of Langston Hughes, Nikki Giovanni and Maya Angelou at the age of twelve. At the age of thirteen, she became an avid reader and Poet. In high school, one of her poems was selected and featured in the South Carolina State Newspaper. In 2012, she produced another poem that was featured in the poetry collection entitled, Stars In Our Hearts: Findings.

She has acquired her Associates in Human Services and bachelor’s degree in social work. She aspires to receive her MSW as well. In 2018 she self published, then later signed with B. Love Publications and rereleased her first book of poems entitled Wordplay: A Potion Named Poetry. More than a Poet, she indulges in the creation of short stories as well. Aliada Duncan is a woman behind her words. She is a daughter, mother, writer and an essentially eccentric soul that draws inspiration from the ethereal motions of life. Jess Words is a poet by nature on a journey of self-healing through her gift of writing. In the midst of attempting to live her best twenty-something-year-old life, she decided to follow her dreams of being an author. She joined B. Love Publications in 2019 and released her debut poetry collection “Warmest Regards: My Letters to the Process.”

Her love of words and their ability to heal has been the constant driving force behind her writing, since the age of eleven. Armed only with her pen, and the hustle it takes to navigate the streets of New York, Jess Words hopes to provide her audience with relatable poetry they can feel!



A lover of all things love, Ash Ley, an author from the south, has had a passion for reading and writing for the last 10+ years. Newcomer, Ivy Laika is a twenty-eight-year-old Haitian-American. Originally born in Jean Rabel, Haiti, she immigrated to the United States at the age of three.

Through her journey of assimilating into the American culture, she found her love for writing. She started writing poetry and short stories at the age of twelve. She later decided that the healing that writing has offered her needed to be shared with the world. Her writing portrays the power of words, love, confidence, and hope. She found inspiration through her life experiences to create stories of genuine black love. Her goal is to create images of black love to help others find and accept it freely along with highlighting positive representation of black men and women.
